HCA Member Show 2021-2022

90 work of art were submitted to enter the show this year from 18 towns and 2 states. The artwork submitted this year was excellent, and narrowing it down was extremely difficult. However, the works selected will make a powerful portrayal of our community of artists.  Juror Sarah Alexander selected 56 for display in the gallery. She is a Core Artist Member at Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.  Her work is in private collections and has been shown extensively throughout New England, as well as abroad. Sarah's work has been published by North Light Books, and she was recently a featured artist in the NARM Quarterly magazine.

The HCA Members Show 2021-2022 Exhibition will be available for viewing at the HCA's Lotvin Family Gallery December 17, 2021 - January 28, 2022 as well as online here.

The HCA gallery hours for public viewing: Monday - Fridays 9 am - 7 pm and Saturdays 9 am - 2 pm. Guests must observe safety protocols when visiting the gallery, including wearing a face mask. What inspired you to make this work?: As a Hopkinton resident since 1987, I have long been charmed by this lovely shop here on Hayden Rowe. Owned by long time resident, Liz Swenson, the shop's charming appearance on the outside is only surpassed by the artfully decorated inside. It was a joy to finally represent this delightful Hopkinton shop in watercolor. I only hope I have conveyed its true appeal.

Year created: 2013
What inspired you to make this work?: I was at a friend's house in Hopedale, watching about 8 fox kits playing in her side yard. They were not intimidated by us at all, and there was no sign of mama fox, but we knew she was close by keeping an eye on all of us. This little guy ran down into the fox den, and I walked over and I stood quietly with my camera as he came back out. First I saw a little ear, then half his little face, then I was lucky enough to capture his whole face. It was the most exiting photo I ever took!
